Wilma J. Nichols
CRAIGSVILLE:
Wilma Jean (Powell) Nichols, 60, of 336 West Railroad Avenue, Craigsville passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Envoy of Staunton.
Ms. Nichols was born August 30, 1950 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Brooks Albert and Mary Elizabeth (Robertson) Powell.
Ms. Nichols was a 1969 graduate of Buffalo Gap High School, in 2008 she retired due to her health from Royal Care Assistant Living where she had been employed for twelve years as a CNA. Prior to her employment at Royal Care, Wilma was employed at the Jane Colby Factory in Millboro and Genesco-L-Grief in Verona. Wilma was a member of Bells Valley United Methodist Church in Goshen where is taught Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout Leader of Troop 504 in Craigsville, she loved to babysit, direct weddings and baby showers, and she made many wedding cakes and enjoyed working with wedding flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter and grandson, Stacey Rena (Nichols) McDaniel and Dylan McDaniel on March 22, 2005 and a great-nephew, Blake Sensabaugh.
She is survived by a sister, Libby P. Morris and her husband Mike of Craigsville; a grandson, Jacob McDaniel of Glasgow; a special niece, Shelly Sensabaugh and her husband William of Craigsville; a nephew, Scott Morris and his wife Sherry of Staunton; great-nieces and nephews, Scottie Boy Morris, Katie B. Cash and Brittany BB Morris; a former son-in-law, Lewis McDaniel and his wife Laura of Glasgow; care giver and cousin, Linda Bethel; close and special friends, D.J. Strange, Cindy and Sissy Woods, Bo and Poodle Woods, Pam Stuples and Tina Burnette; also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 in the Bells Valley United Methodist Church by Pastor Terry Adkins.
Burial will follow in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.
Active pallbearers are Chris Robertson, Mike Robertson, Clinton Robertson, Rob Robertson, Adam Robertson, Rusty Ingram, Chester Burke and Dallas Bethel.
Honorary pallbearers are Richard Bethel, Richard Fox, Steward Powell, Pete Shiplett, J.T. Via, Bo Woods, Jesse Nieman, Justin Stone and family and friends attending.
The family will receive friends 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of her sister and brother-in-law, Libby P. and Mike Morris, 336 West Railroad Ave, Craigsville or the residence of her niece, Shelly and William Sensabaugh, 148 Railroad Avenue in Craigsville.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Bells Valley United Methodist Church, c/o Edith R. Powell, 2999 Virginia Avenue, Goshen, VA 24439.Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
