Valda Denise (Fitzgerald) Long, 68, wife of Dennis Ray Long, Sr. of 12 Galena Road, Staunton passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
She was born in Staunton, Virginia on October 3, 1952, a daughter of the late Alvin Finley Fitzgerald, Sr. and Phyllis Temple (Newman) Fitzgerald.
Valda retired in 2015 as the office manager of the Staunton News Leader, was a member of the Verona Moose Lodge 2172, and enjoyed playing BINGO.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl H. Fitzgerald, Sr., Alvin F. Fitzgerald, Jr. and Glen F. Fitzgerald, and a sister, Cheryl Watson.
In addition to her husband of forty-nine years, she is survived by a son, Dennis R. Long, Jr. and his companion, Tiffany Neisser; two daughters, Angela D. Long and her companion, Roger Miller and Cathy D. Long, all of Staunton; three sisters, Alvina Fitzgerald of Greenville, Paula Shiley and her husband, Todd of Staunton, and Janice Rodenbo and her husband, Donald of Hopewell; six grandchildren, Brandyn, Justin, Colton, Raylen, Jaylee, and Dennis; six great-grandchildren, and her best friend, Sharon Bosserman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Mr. John Farrish.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
