Shirley Ann (Sheffer) Gilmer, 87, wife of George Edward Gilmer, of 2398 Churchville Ave. Staunton, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Gilmer was born on September 9, 1934 in Augusta County, Virginia, a daughter of the late James and Bertha (Jackson) Sheffer.

Shirley was a member of the former West View United Methodist Church. Prior to retiring from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company with over 20 years of service Shirley was employed by Reid's Grocery Store in Staunton as a cashier. She enjoyed reading, singing, and cooking.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilmer was preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Bosserman; and two sisters, Joyce Carper and Ruby Ellinger.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by a son, Scott E. Gilmer of Staunton; a daughter, Katrina J. Harwley of Staunton; two sisters, Nellie A. Harris of Staunton, and Lucille B. Dull of Swoope; a special "best" friend, Leta Carper of Staunton; three grandchildren, Brandy Clatterbaugh, Heather Harwley, and Brooke Gilmer; and three great-grandchildren, Anastasia Campbell, Haven Campbell, and Gabriel Harwley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. William "Bill" Trice.

Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Keith Piner, Bud Gordan, John Dull, Stacey Dull, Dale Dull, Tommy Michael, and Greg Bosserman.
