Russell Wayne Powell, Sr., 66, husband of Margie Ann (French) Powell, of Meade Park Circle, Verona, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Powell was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on March 15, 1955, a son of the late Thomas Russell Powell and Virginia Lee (Jordon) Powell.

Russell was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from R & M Automotive as a mechanic. He enjoyed watching TV, spending time with his family, and was known as "Mr. Fix it Man".

In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by a son, Michael Powell and a brother, Kenneth Powell.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of Verona, are two sons, Russell Wayne Powell, Jr. of Verona and Thomas Wayne Powell of Staunton; a daughter, Teresa Wine and her fiancé, Jon Gordon of Crimora; three brothers, Ernest Powell of Afton, Jimmy Powell of Verona, and William Powell of Schuyler; a sister, Lucy Wiggins of Nellysford; seven grandchildren, Kolby Powell, Maxine Pregory, Isaiah Wine, Kaleb Wine, Elijah Gordon, Virginia Powell and Thomas David Powell; and two great-grandchildren, Braxxton Powell and Adlee Powell.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 in Mountain View Mennonite Church Cemetery in Sherando, by Pastor Earl Monroe.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
