Mary Atchafala (Loan) Huffman, 90, widow of Eugene Ryland Huffman, Sr., of 323 Thompson Street passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Huffman was born on September 15, 1922 in Millboro, a daughter of the late Crawford Argenbright and Della Barbara (Phillips) Loan.

Mrs. Huffman was a member of Staunton Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed cooking and feeding family and friends. Flowers and gardening were some of her favorite pastimes.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Eugene R. Huffman, Jr. and a daughter, Sandra Kay Calo; two sisters, Maude Pugh and Barbara Wright and a brother, Charles Loan.

Surviving are two sons, Bill Lee Huffman of Staunton and Garry W. Huffman and wife Helen of Palm Coast, Florida; a daughter, Betty Jo Kane and husband Allen of Baltimore, Maryland; six sisters, Wilda Reynolds of Covington, Anna Lefler of Waynesboro, Brownie Sams of Staunton, Mamie VonWedel of TN, Nadie Sweet and Goldie Loving both of Staunton; ten grandchildren, Patricia Barrett and husband Walt, Theresa Erdman and husband Kevin, Eugene Huffman III, Tony Huffman and wife Terry, Fred Kane, Bruce Kane and wife Gina, Michelle Hager and husband Chris, David Huffman, Derek Calo and Jessica Huffman; ten great grandchildren, Troy Huffman, Kelly Huffman, Autumn Huffman, Amber Blake, Heather Blake, Samantha Erdman, Alexis Erdman, Tyler Huffman, Kenny Burr and Amanda Burr and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

A Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor David Bailey.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

A Graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in Alleghany Memorial Gardens in Covington.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 42 Neff Avenue Suite 210, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
