IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joseph Kyle
Steencken
April 22, 1992 – February 25, 2022
Joseph Kyle Steencken, of Mount Sidney, beloved father, brother, uncle, son, and friend, has gone to be with God in Heaven. He was born April 22, 1992, in Morristown, New Jersey, and passed away in a motorcycle accident in Fort Defiance on Friday, February 25, 2022.
When Joseph was five, he fell and broke his leg while learning to ride his bicycle. The nurses and doctors kept calling him Joe and Joey. He finally yelled at them, "I am Plain Old Joseph!" And so he was. He was shy as a young child and easy to please. As an adult, Joseph had simple wants and needs and was always true to who he was: He was deep; he was hilarious, and his love knew no bounds. He always wanted a marriage like his parents have and looked forward to having his own family. He cared about the welfare of those he loved with his whole heart. He was an avid soccer player from first grade through eighth and was chosen to play in the AYSO National Championship Tournament in seventh grade! Joseph was a great father to his daughter Chloe, helping her with her homework, working on projects with her in his shop, providing her with her own toolbox so she could work beside him, and just being there, loving her. He couldn't wait until she was tall enough to ride safely on his motorcycle with him, and he finally did get to share rides with her. Motor vehicles were always a part of Joseph's life, from his prized collection of Hot Wheels, especially Volkswagen Beetle Bugs, to his red Power Wheels pickup truck, to his first car - a Mitsubishi Spyder convertible. Overall, Joseph was a quiet, unassuming man who was easy to get along with and was generous with his time and knowledge. He died while doing something he loved - riding his motorcycle. Everyone who knew Joseph liked him, and he never met a stranger.
He is survived by his young daughter, Chloe, along with his parents, Thomas Steencken and Maura Fitzgerald; sister, Ginny Theresa (soon to be brother-in-law Evan and two nieces, Dylon and Freyja); brother, Andrew (and two nephews, Xavier and Micah); and sister, Melissa Cunningham (husband Mike and nephew Shea). In addition, he is survived by extended family, an incredible number of friends and acquaintances, and his dog Kylie.
"Joseph, we all love you and miss you, and we know you now have the peace you have always deserved."
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
