James Howard "Jim" Bell's Obituary

James Howard "Jim" Bell, Sr., 80, husband of Gladys Marie (Runion) Bell of 844 Berry Farm Road, Staunton went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side.

Mr. Bell was born in Staunton, Virginia on May 18, 1940, a son of the late Morgan Howard and Ruth Virginia (Staton) Bell.

James attended New Life Foursquare Gospel Church, he was retired from Holsum Bakery with twenty-nine years of service and later, Alcoa for eighteen years of service. Mr. Bell was active in the Verona Community Food Pantry for six years, and was an avid blood donor with the local blood services, donating over nineteen gallons of blood. He enjoyed working up a garden every summer, hunting with his sons and spending time with his family and many friends.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, James Howard "Jimmy" Bell, Jr.; a brother, Van Wesley Bell, Sr.; a sister, Barbara Bodkin; and a close and special nephew, "Van" Wesley Bell, Jr.

Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-five years are two sons, William "Billy" Bell, and David Bell and his wife Beth; a sister, Sylvia Weaver and her husband Gary all of Staunton; four grandchildren, Claudia Marrs and husband Jake, Emerson Bell and wife Heather, Jonathan Bell and fianc Casey Burns, Morgan Bell and her significant other Zack Bunch; nine great-grandchildren, Cory "C.J." Bowden and his wife Bobbie, Kadin Marrs, Matthew Bell, Keith Bell, Caden Bell, Autumn Bell, Maryn Bell, Hudson Bunch and Brinley Bunch; one great-great granddaughter, Paisley Bowden; a number of nieces and nephews; and close friend Alice Fauber and her husband, the late Hunter Fauber.

A private graveside service will be held in Augusta Memorial Park by Rev. Brandon Carter and Rev. Andrew Salcedo.

Those desiring may pay their respects by visiting Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, on Tuesday, February 16th from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. or other at times the residence.

The family wishes to express a sincere "Thank You" to all James' church family and friends, the UVA Doctors and Staff, the Kindred Hospice of Harrisonburg, and a special nurse, Melanie Shull.
