Darlene (Koontz) Chaplin, 74, wife of Lawrence Chaplin of 2737 Barren Ridge Road, passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 in Waynesboro.
Mrs. Chaplain was born in Middle River, Maryland on March 27, 1944 a daughter of the late Kenny and Hannah (Stillwell) Koontz.
Darlene was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday school. Prior to retiring from Wilson Trucking, Mrs. Chaplin was employed by Yellow Freight Company and Crompton Foods. She was a lover of flowers, she enjoyed attending yard sales and collecting dolls.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chaplin was preceded in death by two brothers, William Royce Koontz and John L. Koontz.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 52 years is a sister, Joyce Terrell of Waynesboro; two nieces; three nephews; and a great-nephew.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Crossroads Baptist Church, 31 Cross Roads Lane, Fishersville, VA 22939.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews, Roger Roadcap, Kenny Roadcap, Timmy Roadcap, Gary Koontz, Gary Crum, and Christopher Terrell.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 in the Barren Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery by the Rev. Heath Spivey and Mr. Harold Munson.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
