Winfred Lewis "Wimpy" Armstrong, Sr. widower of Maxine (Rankin) Armstrong formerly of Morris Street passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Birch Gardens in Staunton.

Mr. Armstrong was born on June 6, 1935 in Lexington, Virginia, a son of the late Daisy (Pooley) Bane.

Wimpy served his country in the United States Army and the National Guard. He retired from Western State Hospital where he was employed as a carpenter. Wimpy enjoyed socializing, attending the Staunton Braves Baseball games, dancing, and walking in Gypsy Hill Park.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by a sister.

Surviving are two children, a son, Lewis Armstrong, Jr. and daughter, Dreama K. Simonetti and her husband Johnny, all of Staunton; five grandchildren, Cheyenne Armstrong, Lakota Armstrong, Shellie Simonetti, Andrew Simonetti and Aaron Simonetti; four great-grandchildren and two granddogs, "Chia" and "Munchie".

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2021 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Peter Grimm.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, 341 Campbell Street, Staunton.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Simonetti, Christopher Lambert, Heather Hicks, Christopher Hicks, Phil Reese, and Charles Cocks.
