Willie Franklin McNeal, Jr., 75, of Denver, North Carolina and formerly of Verona, Virginia, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026 at his daughter’s residence in Denver, North Carolina.
Mr. McNeal was born in Craigsville, Virginia on December 10, 1950, a son of the late Willie Franklin McNeal, Sr. and Thelma Beatrice (Boyne) McNeal.
Willie retired from Augusta County Public Schools, where he served as principal of Valley Vo-Tech. He was a member of Lakeshore P.C.A. Church and a life member of the Staunton Augusta Rescue Squad (S.A.R.S.). Willie was deeply committed to his community, especially through his involvement with Area 5 Special Olympics and the S.W.A.T. Association. In his free time, he found joy in cooking, flower gardening, cross-stitching, and sewing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. McNeal was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward “Butchie” McNeal and Dewey Carson McNeal.
Surviving, are three sons, Jeremy F. McNeal and his wife, Catherine of Swoope, Jared F. McNeal and his wife, Jennie of Verona, and Jason F. McNeal of Fishersville; a daughter, Jennifer F. Noble and her husband, Jeffrey of Denver, NC; twelve grandchildren, James F. McNeal and his wife, Brenna, Hannah E. Turazzo and her husband, Joe, Taylor C. Lendermon and her husband, Colin, Claire M. McNeal, Dylan M. McNeal, Grace A. McNeal, Tessa N. McNeal, Sammuel F. McNeal, Lydia F. Noble, Mya A. Noble, Holden F. Noble, and Landon C. Noble; two great-grandchildren, Mabel and Alaynah; and a number if nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence of Doris Dameron, 18 Clover Green Court, Fishersville, VA 22939.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in Augusta Memorial Park by Reverend Bill Davis.
Active pallbearers will be his sons, Jared, Jeremy, and Jason, his son-in-law, Jeff Noble, and grandsons, James, Holden and Landon.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to S.A.R.S, 1601 N. Coalter St., Staunton VA 24401.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
