William Clayton Willie Pullen, 61, of 5 Adams Street passed away Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Hospice of Piedmont Center for Acute Care in Charlottesville.
Mr. Pullen was born on December 8, 1954 in Rockingham County, a son of Evelyn Elizabeth (Utz) Pullen and the late Rev. Pressley Lockhamilton Pullen.
Willie was self-employed, the owner/operator of Pullens Excavating and Hauling. He was an honorary member of the Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department, Company 8, a member of the Craigsville Ruritan Club and was affiliated with Wasted Wages Truck Pulling Team. Mr. Pullen enjoyed riding his motorcycle and watching NASCAR races.
In addition to his father, Mr. Pullen was preceded in death by a niece, Deanna J. Clifton.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Craigsville, is a daughter, Kimberly L. Pullen and a grandson, Daniel William McManaway both of Craigsville; two brothers, Pressley L. Pullen, Jr. of Winchester and David M. Pullen of Ruckersville; three sisters, Nancy E. Cummings of Sapulpa, OK, Rebecca J. Lumpkin of Tallassee, AL and Mary K. Clifton of Martinsville; a niece and three nephews also survive.
Those desiring may visit the family anytime at the home of Mr. Pullens mother on Chestnut Avenue in Craigsville.
A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in the Craigsville Cemetery by Rev. Fonzo Randolph and Rev. Gary Wilson.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry Deane, Wyatt Sours, Vincent Doyle, Ronald Colvin, Norris Campbell and Wayne Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Craigsville Volunteer Fire Department.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911.
Being a recipient of a heart transplant, Mr. Pullen was a strong advocate of organ donation. Willie and his family wish to express a sincere Thank You to the University of Virginia Transplant team and doctors.
