WILLIAM H. WADE
William H. (Bill) Wade, 65, husband of Betty (Neff) Wade of 13 Goose Meadow Court, went to his eternal home, Friday, (May 8, 2009) in the Augusta Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Wade was born July 11, 1943 in Millboro Springs, (at the Wades Home Place), a son of the late Stanley Richardson, Sr. and Clara Margaret (McKee) Wade.
Bill was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and the Friends in Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a Retired U.S. Naval Reserve serving for twenty six years with two years on active duty. He worked for Richardson -Wayland Contractors as a Journeyman Lineman and was the owner and operator of the original Our Place Restaurant in Buffalo Gap.
Bill also was a member of the Millboro Masonic Lodge # 28 AF\u0026AM, a 32nd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite of Richmond, he was an ordained deacon, former Sunday School Teacher and youth Director and was a member of I.B.E.W. local # 70. Bill spent twenty-six summers at Smith Mountain Lake with his family, he enjoyed boating, skiing, fishing and nature. He had a love for trains and watching the wildlife.
He will be missed
In addition to his wife Betty of forty-four years survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law; Nikki (Wade) Sabiston and her husband Tom of Richmond and Jill (Wade) Surratt and her husband Doug of Fishersville; one brother and sister-in-law Stanley R. Jr. and his wife Charlotte Wade of Luray; a sister and brother-in-law Joyce (Wade) Shifflett and her husband Henry of Millboro Springs; two granddaughters, Sarah Kathryn and Hannah Wade Surratt and two grandsons Jacob William and Jonathan David Sabiston, who were loved so very much by their Poppy also surviving is a special niece, Cheryl Blazer and four nephews, David and Michael Wade, Skip and Norman Shifflett.
A Celebration of Bills Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (May 12, 2009) in the Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Temple D. Myers. Burial will follow in the Windy Cove Cemetery in Millboro Springs.
The public is invited to attend a Masonic Service conducted at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 in the Chapel of the funeral home by the Millboro Masonic Lodge # 28 AF/AM after which the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home or other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be David Wade, Michael Wade, Jerry Harman, Dave Cash, Jon Arneson, R.M. Stone, Jr., Milton Grady, Leon Brooks and Jerry Matchett.

Memorial Baptist Church (Mission Fund), 224 Taylor Street, Staunton, Va. 24401.
