William Archie Smith, 91, of 76 Howdyshell Lane passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Smith was born in Swoope a son of the late William and Maria (Shelton) Smith.

Archie was a member of the Bethany Seventh Day Adventist Church, he was retired as a saw mill operator at Heaveners Lumber Company and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by three brothers, Waddell, James and Albert Smith and two sisters, Geneva Smith and Willa Mae Shelton.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Isabelle S. Carpenter of Swoope and a number of nieces, nephews and many cousins also survive.

A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens by Pastor Bryant Smith.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of his arrangements.
