Obituary

William “Bill” Franklin McCrory, 88, widower of Joyce (Moore) McCrory of Raphine, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2026 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville.

Mr. McCrory was born in Augusta County on July 11, 1938, son of the late Albert Eugene McCrory and Harriet Virginia (Gayhart) McCrory.

Bill spent his entire life farming, a way of life that brought him great pride and happiness. He was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. Bill loved telling jokes, sharing stories, and keeping everyone around him entertained. He had a way of making people laugh and could bring a smile to even the simplest moments. Bill also enjoyed going to auctions and had a passion for collecting things.

In addition to his wife and his parents, Mr. McCrory was preceded in death by a sister, Odell McCrory Smith.

Surviving is a son, Darrell L. McCrory of Greenville; a daughter, Janet (McCrory) Killingsworth and her husband, David of Staunton; a grandson, Billy Snyder and his wife, Beth; a great-granddaughter, Haley Snyder and her fiancé, Ty; three step-great-granddaughters, Taylor, Trinity, and Dottie; two great-great-grandsons, Carson and Cason Ragan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery by Pastor Derek Almarode.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
