William Brown Gardner, III, 83, widower of Peggy Jean (Carroll) Gardner of Hays Avenue, Staunton passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Gardner was born on January 26, 1938 in Staunton, a son of the late William B. Gardner, Jr. and Mary Virginia (Shiflett) Gardner.
William attended Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren. He served in the United States Air Force for twenty-two years and retired from United Airlines where he was employed as Reservations Agent. Later in life, Mr. Gardner became an ordained minister and filled in for various churches throughout the valley. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, the American Legion, and he enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving is a son, Donald Roy Gardner of Woodbridge; a daughter, Katrina M. Gardner of Centreville; a grandson, Christopher Bell and his wife Ashley; a sister, Crys Sragovitz of Staunton; nephew, Ben Sragovitz and his wife Ashley; and a niece, Shana Stagner.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Arbor Hill Church of the Brethren by Pastor Jack Glover.
Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Belcher, Ben Sragovitz, Michael Belcher, James Joseph, Mike Crabill, and Don Langley.
