William David "Bill" Rowe, 81, widower of Betty Lou (Reynolds) Rowe, of Ashley Road in Stuarts Draft, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mr. Rowe was born on September 22, 1941 in Swoope, Virginia, a son of the late Roy David "Sam" and Rosie Frances (Painter) Rowe.

Mr. Rowe was a lifetime member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church and was active in many capacities. He served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Sunday school, the "unofficial" greeter and Treasurer of the Cemetery Committee.  Mr. Rowe was a veteran of the National Guard of the United States and retired from DuPont as an Instrument Mechanic. Supporting his grandchildren in sporting events and various activities was special to him. "Bill" enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, traveling, working puzzles and tinkering with anything.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Rowe was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Thomas "Tommy" Rowe.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda R. Whitehead and her husband Joe of Greenville and Beverly R. Smith and her husband Jesse of Staunton; a brother, Dr. Samuel F. Rowe and his wife Beth of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Peggy (Reynolds) Ribet of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Seth Whitehead and wife Sarah, Ashley Smith-Biernat and husband Josh, Ethan Whitehead and wife Courtney, and Travis Smith; two great-grandchildren, Preston Joseph Whitehead and Abrielle Rose Biernat; and numerous nieces and  nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2022 in Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by Pastor Lance Braun.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jesse Smith, Joe Whitehead, Seth Whitehead, Ethan Whitehead, Travis Smith, Josh Biernat and David Ribet.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Grady, Paul Morrison, Harrison Moyers, and his Mt. Tabor Church family.

It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery, 334 Mt. Tabor Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401.

The family would like to offer a special "Thank You" to the doctors, nurses and staff at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
