CRAIGSVILLE

Rev. William Edgar Colvin, Sr. 85, husband of Ruth (Briemann) Colvin of 219 Sulfur Springs Road, Craigsville, passed away, Saturday, March 31, 2012, in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.
Mr. Colvin was born on December 13, 1926 in Craigsville, a son of the late George T., Sr. and Annie (Crawford) Colvin.
Edgar was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Rev. Colvin served as a minister of the Church of the Nazarene from 1969 to 2011, building two churches in Virginia and earning three distinguished service awards for his contributions to the growth of the Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Colvin was an avid hunter, gardener and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Colvin was preceded in death by a daughter Kimberley Ann St.Onge, a grandson, three brothers and four sisters.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 61 years are three sons; Gary L. Colvin and wife Jeanne and William E. Colvin, Jr. and wife Wanda all of Craigsville, and Mark K. Colvin of Staunton; a daughter Sandra Hickman and husband Noah of Charlotte Courthouse, Virginia; a brother George T. Colvin, Jr. and wife Josephine of Staunton; a sister Ethel V. Massie of Staunton; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two extended family members Brenda Early and Judy Little both of Craigsville.
A celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene by Rev. Billy Curry.Burial will follow at the Craigsville Community Cemetery with military rites.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, April 2, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene or his residence at other times.
Active pallbearers will be Tom Humphries, Norris Campbell, Wayne Burke, Fred Sprouse, Sr. and Fred Sprouse, Jr., Marshall Sprouse, Donald Robertson and Larry Reed.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Church of the Nazarene.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene, 2117 Troxel Gap Road, Craigsville, Va 24430 or the Craigsville-Augusta Springs First Aid Crew, Attention Jodi Fitzgerald, P.O. Box 99, Craigsville, VA 24430.
