William Harvey Bill Ruch, 81, husband of Lois Eilene (Wildsmith) Ruch, of 19 Rose Garden Lane, Fishersville, passed away Tuesday, (April 27, 2010) in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Ruch was born July 7, 1928 in Sunbury, PA, a son of the late Joseph Isaac and Helen Dorothy (Derr) Ruch.
Bill was a veteran of World War II where he served with the United States Army Air Corp. He retired from Merck and Company in Elkton as a Site Trainer in February of 1993, a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church, the Augusta County Railroad Association and the Clemmer/McGuffin American Legion. He loved his model railroad trains, to hunt, fish and enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Bastress and Jean Hornberger and two brothers David and Joseph Ruch.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lois whom he married September 28, 1951, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis A. Ruch and his wife Carol B. Merkle of Bethel, PA and Michael W. Ruch and his wife Jane G. of Fishersville; four sisters, Margaret Musser and Constance Hefner both of Sunbury, PA, Lois Heiges of Milton, PA and Linda Dreisbach of Shamokin, PA; two grandchildren, Carrie E. Holsinger and her husband Travis of Staunton and Joseph Isaac Ruch and his wife Heather A. Law of Rockville, MD; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Lucas and Jack Holsinger, Noah Law and Talulah Ruch.
A celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010 at St. Pauls United Methodist Church in the Family Life Center by Rev. G. Jeffrey Allen and Pastor Wade Munford.
The family will receive friends following the service.
