WILLIAM A. SMITH

SWOOPE:

William Albert Smith, 81, of 124 Ol Country Lane, Swoope, passed away Monday (February 9, 2009) in Augusta Medical Center.
Mr. Smith was born on May 21, 1927 in Lone Fountain, a son of the late Levi and Lula (McCray) Smith.
William was a U. S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean War and was retired from Pave-Rite Paving as a truck driver.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, Roscoe Smith, two sisters, Mary Margaret Smith and Ethel Fletcher and a special friend Littie Olive Wells.
Surviving are a brother, Bobby Smith of Deerfield and a sister Naomi S. Cupp of Mt. Solon.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, (February 13, 2009) in the Elk Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery by Pastor Denny Sites.
Active pallbearers will be Raymond Wells, Warren Coffman, Jeff Cupp, Allen Downs, Kenneth Woodson and Randy Kelley.
The family will receive friends Thursday, (February 12, 2009) from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Coffman Funeral Home, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton.
