Wayne Edward Harris, 48, of 280 National Ave., passed away Saturday, (November 7, 2009) at his residence from an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Harris was born in Hot Springs, Virginia on March 24, 1961, a son of the late Clyde Edward Harris and Bonnie Ann (Gregory) Harris Monroe.
He was employed by Asplundh Tree Company for many years as a Tree Expert, he attended Fort Defiance High School, he loved to hunt, fish and spend his time outdoors and with his many friends. He was a faithful reader of his Bible and enjoyed spending time reading the word of God.
In addition to his father, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gregory and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Lucille Knight.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Staunton, is his companion of 25 years, Ms. Doris Lee of Staunton; two brothers, Tracey Edward Harris and his companion Sandra Clark of Steeles Tavern and Shawn Lee McCauley and his wife Elaine of Staunton; two sisters, Wanda Cash and her companion Steve Casson of Crimora and Angela Fitzgerald and her husband Mac of Waynesboro; step-father, Chuck Monroe and a number of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews also survive.
In honoring his wishes, Mr. Harris will be cremated and there will be no public viewing.
A memorial service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening, (November 12, 2009) in the Heavens Golden Gate Church, 810 Grubert Ave., by the Rev. Golden C. Clark, Jr.
The family will receive friends following the service or at his residence at other times.
