Wayne Lee Dingledine, 83, of Staunton, VA, passed away November 30, 2021 surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Shirley C. Dingledine.
Wayne was born in Staunton, VA on November 13, 1938, a son of the late Stanley Miley Dingledine and Brownye (Linhos) Dingledine.
Mr. Dingledine attended Memorial Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church in Staunton, received his B.S. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and his M.S degree from James Madison University. Wayne taught at The Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton for twenty-eight years. Prior to teaching, Wayne served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1963, and was proud to have served on the USS Saratoga; he served another four years in the Naval Reserves. Wayne enjoyed golf and tennis and was an avid sports fan. His greatest joy was having friends and family at his home, and he loved life, family and friends.
Surviving, is a step son, Ed Sereno and his wife Luciana of Houston, TX; two step daughters, Cristina Elkins and her husband Rick of Holly Springs, NC, and Carla Sereno of Staunton; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Wayne is also survived by his dear cousins, Dee-Dee Miller and Charlotte Simmons. In addition, Wayne and family would like to acknowledge Wayne's friend, George Jordan of Staunton, who was a life-long friend that Wayne considered as his brother.
The family will have a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton by Pastor Mark B. Jones.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Great Hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Augusta Health Foundation at P.O. Box 1000 Fishersville, VA 22939.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
