Wayman Noel Pifher, 75, of Verona, VA died March 28, 2022.
As per Wayman's request, a celebration of life service will be held back in his hometown in Baker City, OR this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Aisle 7 Fellowship Church at the Community Center, 465 Lee Hwy, Verona, VA 24482, c/o of Pastor Shawna Hiner.
Wayman was born on September 30, 1946, in Baker City to Francis Pifher and Madeline Luster Pifher.
At the age of 20, Wayman enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed out of the naval base in Portsmouth, Virginia serving in the Fighter Squadron 102, earning a National Defense Service Medal.
After Wayman returned home, he and his wife, Constance Pifher (divorced) moved and lived in Verona, NJ. There he served as a letter carrier for the Orange, NJ US Postal Service as a letter carrier for 25 years and raised his two sons, Todd and Ryan Pifher.
In retirement, Wayman remarried to Karen Pifher (divorced) and moved to Verona, VA where he started his own successful contracting company, refurbishing older homes throughout August County, Virginia.
Wayman was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and also served as a deacon for the Aisle 7 Fellowship.
Survivors include his sons, Todd Pifher and his wife Erika Pifher, of Denville, NJ and Ryan Pifher, his wife Jennifer Pifher and his granddaughter, Ellie Pifher of Verona, NJ; his brothers Darl Pifher of Caldwell, Idaho, William Pifher, and Tom Pifher, both of Baker City, Oregon, Louis John Pifher and his wife, Tacy, of Boise, and Richard Pifher of Pendleton; and his sisters, Marjorie Leary and her husband, Mike, and Marilyn Williams and her husband, Don, all of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Madeline; his brother Elbert "Dude" and his sister, Jean Pifher.
