Wanda Jean (Horn) Roberts, 63, widow of Thomas Roberts of 82 Hupman Drive, Churchville passed away June 20, 2011 at 7:05 p.m. in Augusta Health in Fishersville after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Roberts was born January 28, 1948 in Richlands, Virginia, the second daughter of Curtis Horn and Goldie (McKinney) Horn.
Wanda held several jobs over the course of her career to include employment by Grand Piano, Heilig Meyers and Aladdin Food Service at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center. Despite health complications for many years, Wanda was a breast cancer survivor and a remarkable member of her family. She enjoyed trips with her sisters, flowers, crafts and cooking.
She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Roberts, sister and brother-in-law, Alomia (Horn) and French Moore, and her parents, Curt and Goldie Horn.
Wanda is survived by her only son, Robert Wayne Bird Barcomb and his wife Wendy of Staunton. In addition to her son she is survived by brother, Curtis K. Horn and his wife Patricia of Churchville; a sister, Sharon Doyle and her husband Terry of Staunton; sister, Patricia Lawhorn and her husband Larry of Churchville with whom she resided; sisters of the heart Mildred Back and Trish Pope. A number of aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews-in-law also mourn Wandas passing.
Pastor Stan Farthing will conduct a Celebration of Life Service which will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 2:00p.m. at Zetta Presbyterian Church. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Zetta Presbyterian Church 229 Moffett Branch Road Churchville, VA or at her residence. Light refreshments will be served by the ladies of the church for family and friends after the service in the church social hall.
Inurnment will be private as per Wandas wishes.
