Wanda Mae Ryan Helmick, 76, of Verona, completed her journey to heaven on Sunday, May 2, 2021.
She was born November 25, 1944 in Staunton, the daughter of the late Wilbur Kenneth and Goldie Marie (Carroll) Ryan.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Larry Ryan, and two sisters, Geraldine Serrett and Deanna Ryan.
Wanda was a member of Middle River Church of the Brethren in New Hope. She loved serving her church as a Deacon and on the Leadership Team in many roles. She was an avid supporter of the Relay for Life. Wanda retired from Marshalls, managed the Troy Hill Mobile Home Park for over 40 years and volunteered for years with the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad and Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Donna Hurst and Jeff, Annette Bailey and Billy, and Chrissy Snyder and Charlie (Stump); a half-brother, Robert Ryan; four grandchildren, Tausha Seay, Tammy Seay and Jason Shultz, Sean Helmick and Ryan Ellen Hurst; three great-grandchildren, William, Bryce and Allie; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was "Nana" to many others she loved.
The family will receive visitors at Middle River Church of the Brethren on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at her church on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Kathleen Michael and Pastor Bob Johnson.
A private graveside service will be held in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Ryan, Ross Ryan, Kenny Landram, Greg Lambert, Chris Pultz, and Bernie Elmore. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of her church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middle River Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship Fund in her honor.
