Walter Thomas "Tom" Rivenback, Jr., 56, husband of Becky Lee (Chappell) Rivenback, of Staunton, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mr. Rivenback was born in Staunton, Virginia on September 14, 1965, a son of the late Walter Thomas Rivenback, Sr. and Katherine Ray (Meeks) Welcher.

Tom retired from Staunton Correctional Center as an officer. He loved bowling with his wife, Becky, golfing with his brother, and he enjoyed fishing and dirt track racing. Mr. Rivenback was an avid New York Yankees and Washington Redskins fan.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of eight years, is his step-father, Phillip Lee Welcher of Staunton; a son, Derek Rivenback of Staunton; four daughters, Joanna Rivenback of Elkton, Crystal Shoemaker of Louisa, Amanda Barker and Ashley Hundley both of Locust Grove; a brother, Dwayne E. Rivenback and Melinda Helmick of Staunton; a half-brother, Chris Rivenback of Harrisonburg; two half-sisters, Pamela Simmons of Fulks Run and Lisa Melchor of Greenville; and nine grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery by Reverend William "Bill" Trice.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

Active pallbearers are Dustin Hundley, A.W. Simmons, Geffrey Simmons, Anthoni Simmons, B.J. Weaver, and Brandon Grant.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
