Wallace Ivan Ailer, 82, of Verona, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mr. Ailer was born in Churchville, Virginia on August 6, 1942, a son of the late Claude Joseph Ailer and Anne Bell (Peters) Ailer.
Wallace retired in 1995 from American Safety Razor and attended Jerusalem Chapel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, making knives, and was a history buff.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ailer is preceded in death by his six brothers, John E., Cecil E., Norman J., Carl L., Shannon, and Sidney B. Ailer; a sister, Dolly Bell Ailer; a grandson, Andrew Sites; his first wife, Iva Kincaid Ailer; and his second wife, Eva Rosetta (Self) Ailer.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving, is a daughter, Vickie Sites and her husband, Terry of Mt. Sidney; a grandson, Aaron Sites; a granddaughter, Amy Carlison and her husband, Josh; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Brooks and her husband, Anakin, Haiven Carlison, Cole Carlison, and Brennan Carlison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Jimmy Kite.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Aaron Sites, Josh Carlison, Anakin Brooks, Jeff Sites, Travis Strawderman, and Andy Gutshall.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-1942.
The family would like to express a sincere "Thank you" to Wallace's special friends, Evan Strawderman and Betsy Nelson, who helped take care of him in his later years.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
