IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wade Leavel
Bibb
December 18, 1923 – February 17, 2023
Wade Leavel Bibb of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away Friday, February 17, 2023.
He was 99 years young.
Wade was born December 18, 1923, to Moffett Edgar and Annie Leavel Bibb in Weyers Cave, Virginia where he spent his youth and early adulthood until moving to Waynesboro in 1964. As a proud resident of Weyers Cave, he always enjoyed recounting stories growing up there as the youngest of 6 boys.
As a young man Wade followed in the footsteps of his older brothers into service and joined the Army Air Corps in WWII. He was proud of his service and in later years rarely seen without wearing his WWII Veterans ball cap. He always displayed his mother's Blue Star Service Banner - indicating stars for all six "Bibb Boys" who served, and boasted the miracle that all six came home.
After his discharge, Wade attended Bridgewater College on the GI bill. He went on to work and retire as a parts manager for Virginia Tractor, which at the time was located in Waynesboro.
He married his beloved wife, Audrey Kite Bibb, on November 21, 1951. They were married 71 years prior to her passing in 2022. He continually missed her until his death.
Wade and Audrey loved to travel. He was proud of their European trips and their travels across the United States. They were constant companions golfing, walking, traveling, and spending time with family.
Wade loved cars - Always reading up on consumer reports and giving good advice to family members for purchases. Proud of his early Porsche and owned several Corvairs over the years. Unlike Ralph Nader, he felt it was one of the best vehicles on the road!
Wade is preceded in death by his parents, Moffett and Annie Bibb; his wife, Audrey Kite Bibb; his brothers, Nelson Crabill Bibb, Ward Moore Bibb, John William Bibb, Harry Lee Bibb, and Moffett Edgar Bibb Jr.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses, and many more great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in Saint Paul Cemetery in Weyers Cave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Augusta Health Foundation, c/o Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
