Virginia A. Smith

STAUNTON:

Virginia Margaret Jean (Armstrong) Smith, 86, widow of William Beverly Smitty Smith, Sr. of 29 East Peabody Street passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mrs. Smith was born March 18, 1925 in West Augusta, a daughter of the late Russell and Nora (VanFosson) Armstrong.
Jean enjoyed her pets, she enjoyed cooking, working with her flowers and spending time with her family.
Survivors include six sons, William B. Smith, Jr. and his wife Janet, James B. Smith and his wife Shirley, Russell B. Smith and his wife Ann, Keith B. Smith and his wife Teresa, all of Staunton, Jimmy Paxton of Staunton and Warren Paxton of West Augusta; a daughter, Brenda Sterrett and her husband Reid of Staunton; a brother, Earnest Armstrong and his wife Mary of West Augusta; a sister, Ruth Knott of Staunton; ten grandchildren, Barbara Smith who lived with and was caregiver to her grandmother, Teresa Smith, Beverley Smith, Valerie Smith, Kimberley Loyd, Tori Smith, Russell Brian Smith, Jr., Katlin Smith, Eric Yarber and Jamie Brown and his wife Barbara; five great grandchildren, Dylan J. Roberts, Taylor Brown, Brianna Loyd, Makayla Loyd and Savanna Loyd and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor Harold W. Pete Campbell.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to Augusta Regional S.P.C.A. 33 Archery Lane, Staunton, Virginia 24401. Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive in Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
