Virginia Lee (Simmons) Arey's Obituary

Virginia Lee (Simmons) Arey, 91, widow of Charles William Chuck Arey, of Churchville and formerly of Staunton, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Shenandoah House in Fishersville.
Mrs. Arey was born May 17, 1922 in Churchville, a daughter of the late Roy and Flora (Skelton) Simmons.
Virginia was a lifetime member of Glossbrenner United Methodist Church and worked for the Hajoca Corporation for many years. She played in the same bridge club for over 50 years, and enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and visiting with family and friends. Family was always very important to her.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Arey was preceded in death by a brother, E. R. Simmons and a sister, Nelle S. Thacker.
Surviving family members include a daughter, Patsy A. Irby of Churchville; a granddaughter, Kimberly Irby of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law, G. L. Sam Thacker of Churchville and J. O. Jack Arey of Staunton; a sister-in-law, Betty Simmons of Lexington; and very special nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Glossbrenner United Methodist Church, 17 Buffalo Gap Highway, Churchville by Pastor Adam Blagg.
The family will receive friends following the service.
Burial will be private in Augusta Memorial Park.
