Virginia "Rosalie" (Botkin) Smith, 84, widow of William David Smith of Pine Tree Lane, Staunton, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

Mrs. Smith was born in Churchville, Virginia on July 16, 1938, a daughter of the late Joseph Samuel Botkin and Mary Margaret (Rankin) Botkin.

Rosalie retired from Rocco and enjoyed watching westerns, playing bingo, knitting, and flower gardening.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Gail Smith; four brothers, Raymond Francis Botkin, John Forrest Botkin, Teddy Rolando Botkin, and David Maslin Botkin; and a sister, Ruby Drucella Phillips.

Surviving, are two daughters, Linda Diann Snyder of Staunton and Cecilia "Joyce" Shorter of Verona; nine grandchildren, Leland Shorter, Shannon Lester, Gavin Strickler, and Sherry Simmons; four great-grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Simmons, and Colt and Knoxley Shorter; three brothers, Freddie Talmadge Botkin of Fort Defiance, Joseph Allen Botkin of Verona, and Loring Hansford Botkin of Churchville; two sisters, Annabelle Freeman of Churchville and Sharon Patricia Botkin of Verona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.

There will be no additional services.
