VERNA R. MOORE
Verna Susan (Rutherford) Moore, 82, widow of John Henry Moore, formerly of Bridge Street and most recently 201 Park Blvd., passed away Tuesday morning, February 17, 2009 in the Shenandoah Nursing Home in Fishersville.
She was born October 10, 1926 in Rainelle, WV, a daughter of the late Owen C. and Tennis (Ripley) Rutherford.
Mrs. Moore was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she was active in many of the church activities and was past president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Aerie 680. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother to four children.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eddie S. Moore; two brothers, Fred and Kyle Rutherford and a sister, Margie Coffey.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnnie Wayne and his wife Anita S. Moore, Ronnie Lee and his wife Lori P. Moore; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Moore) and her husband Dennis F. Riddleberger all of Staunton; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert P. and his wife Barbara M. Rutherford of Fishersville; a sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and her husband John A. Dunn of Taylorsville, NC; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Everett Pittsenbarger, Willis Helmick, Coy Brooks, Peter Pedersen, Ronnie Craig, Daniel Dunn, Steve Bosserman, Steve Kincheloe and T. Scott Miller.
A Celebration of Vernas Life will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 20, 2009 in the Christ United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert A. Edwards and Mr. James Sumner.
Burial will follow in the Augusta Memorial Park in Fishersville.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. this evening, February 19, 2009 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
