Vera Barham Brown, 90, formerly of Jerico Road, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016 in Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.
Miss Brown was born on March 31, 1926 in Fishersville, Virginia a daughter of the late Charles M. Sr. and Elsie (Monroe) Brown.
Vera was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, she enjoyed cooking, and playing Bingo at the nursing home. Vera loved her family and spending time with them. It is said that Vera loved everyone.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Brown and Maynard Brown; and two sisters, Alice Staton and Carolyn Brown.
Surviving are seven brothers, Hubert Gertie Brown and Charles M. Brown, Jr., both of Fishersville, Leonard P. Brown and his wife Jean of Hillister, TX, Tom Brown and his wife JoAnn and Buck Brown and his wife Mackie both of Staunton, Les Brown and his wife Carol of Headwaters, Gary Brown and his wife Dreama of Greenville, and an adopted brother, Chuck Monroe and his wife Bonnie of Staunton; four sisters, Mildred Bowers of Fishersville, Joyce Clatterbaugh and her husband Vaiden of Churchville, Dottie Hancock-Hall of Staunton, and Liz Little and her husband Mike of Fishersville and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.
A Celebration of life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Larry Strickler, Pastor Luke B. Smith and Darlene Robertson.
Burial will follow in the Tinkling Spring Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Ray Staton, Mark Brown, Paul Brown, Phillip Brown, Steve Little, Mikie Little, Curt Hancock and Christopher Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be nieces and nephews attending the service.
It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.
