Trenton 'Hoppy' Casiday's Obituary

Trenton Burwell Hoppy Casiday, 88, husband of Betty (Price) Varner Casiday, of 201 Red Oaks Drive, Staunton passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Casiday was born September 5, 1925 in Stokesville, a son of the late Bud Alfred Casiday and Cora (Garber) Casiday Stanley.
Hoppy was a member of Second Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army during the Normandy invasion of World War II. He had worked in maintenance for Little Oil Company, Peelers Oil Company and Dodd Oil Company. Hoppy had a strong work ethic, and enjoyed wood projects and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Casiday was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Norman Casiday and Boward Casiday and a sister, Margaret Huffer.
Surviving in addition to his wife of thirty-eight years, are three sons, Phillip W. Casiday and his wife Delores of Swoope, Bruce A. Casiday of Churchville, and Carl Varner, Jr. and his wife Christine of Germany; three daughters, Brenda C. Werner and her husband Douglas of Fishersville, Terry Mawyer and her husband Joe of Swoope, and Connie Wade of Staunton; six grandchildren, Derek Casiday, Natasha Vint, Christopher Casiday, Carl Varner, III and his wife Sarah, James Varner and his wife Sabrina and Matthew Casiday; six great grandchildren, Addison Casiday, Leland Casiday, Will Vint, Bentley Vint, Chloe Vint and Trenton Varner; a brother, Robert Casiday of Mt. Solon; a sister, Beatrice C. Owens of Staunton; sister-in-law, Costella Yurkovich of Staunton; brother-in-law, Willis McCray of Richmond; and very special friends, Charlie and Suzie Dull of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 in the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Harry Johns. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Robert Casiday, Jr., Wayne Owens, Rader Dodd, Jr., Gary Scrogham, Chris Snyder, James Young, Nathan Young, and Charles A. Dull.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Second Presbyterian Church, 201 West Frederick Street, Staunton, Virginia 24401.
