STAUNTON:

Tommy Lee Boy Darcus, 69, husband of Linda Marie (Douglas) Darcus of 405 Gooch Street, passed peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 3:30 a.m. at his residence.
Tommy was born April 5, 1941 in Stuarts Draft a son of the late Frances Reedy Darcus.
Mr. Darcus was a member of the former Hatton Pond Baptist Church in Stuarts Draft, where he served as a deacon, trustee and treasurer. He also was the president of the male chorus. He later moved his membership to Ebenezer Baptist Church in Staunton. Tommy owned and operated a custodial service for 35 years and attended Augusta County Training School on Cedar Green. He loved hunting, camping and fishing as well as setting on his porch, horse-shoes and playing a good joke on his family. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment spent with his wife and family.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his step-parents, Roy and Frances Darcus; step-brothers, John and Ernest Darcus; a sister-in-law, Betty Anderson and several special aunts and uncles.
He is survived in death by his wife of 49 years; two sons, Anthony L. Darcus of Broadway and Tyrone D. Darcus of Staunton; a daughter and son-in-law, Christal and Dudley Dean of Staunton; a step-sister, Rosa Blakely; two aunts, Loretta Darcus and Lucile Sheppard; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Anderson of Staunton and Purcel and Dolores Randolph of Fishersville; five grandchildren, Dion Darcus, Jessica Darcus, Brittany Darcus, Anika Darcus and Christan Darcus; two great-grandchildren; Savyon Johnson and Kayden Darcus.
A celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 14, 2011 in the Ebenezer Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Turner and Rev. Dr. Deborah Sams.
Burial will follow in Thornrose Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, February 13, 2011 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers will be Rodney Freeman, George Allison, Jonathan Fridley, Tim Lawrence, Johnny Simonetti, Albert Timberlake, Kevin Shaver, John Smith, Charles Perry and Douglas Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members and friends attending the service.
It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church Elevator Fund, 415 North Augusta Street, Staunton, VA 24401.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the Hospice of the Shenandoah for their kindness, compassion and concern during this time.
