Tommie Leon Powell, 88, widower of JoAnne (Cain) Powell of 674 Bailey Road passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Powell was born on October 1, 1927 in Augusta County, a son of the late Broaddus Eugene and Louise (Sutton) Powell Critzer.
Tommie was a proud veteran of the United States Army and retired in 1986 from A\u0026P Foods as a meat cutter and processor. Mr. Powell enjoyed gardening, watching sports and old television programs.
In addition to his wife of forty-four years and parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Stuart Gene Powell and a great-granddaughter, Cassie.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas W. Powell and his wife Karen, Richard D. Powell and his wife Tammy and Randal L. Powell and his wife Cindy; a daughter, Libby A. Snell and her husband Doug all of Verona; a sister, Mary Lee (Powell) Dennison of Mt. Sidney; five grandchildren, Tommy Powell and wife Laurie, Jennifer Gius and husband Tony, Timmy Powell and wife Tonya, Meganne Manson and husband Ty and Zack Powell and fiance Megan Huffman; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen Powell, 41 Jefferson Street, Verona, Virginia 24482.
A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor David M. Burch.
