Timothy John Bowers, 75, of Staunton Virginia, passed away of natural causes on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Son of John and Vivian Bowers, both deceased, Tim was raised in Wood River Illinois until the family moved to Owensboro Kentucky, where Tim was valedictorian of his Class of 1969 at Daviess County High School. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kentucky, Tim later worked for the State of Kentucky, before moving to Virginia and joining the staffs of Mary Baldwin University and Southern Virginia University, where he retired. Tim was a longtime member of Memorial Baptist Church in Staunton.

Tim's passing is mourned by his friends including Rev. Temple and Ann Myers and family, and Tim's friend and companion Sheila Swift.

Tim always took special delight in his pets, and he had a lifelong interest in swimming and tennis. Above all, people who knew him will remember his quick wit, sense of humor, generosity, and good heart.

There will be no formal services.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
