Thomas Morris Tom Snyder, 79, husband of Mary Catherine (Redifer) Snyder of 5 Clover Lane, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.
Mr. Snyder was born October 23, 1934 in Virginia, a son of the late Ralph Vernon Jim and Ottie (Morris) Snyder.
Tom was a retired machinist from DuPont and had worked for fifteen years at Richmond Security as head of security and was known as Captain Snyder.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by two brothers, George E. Meeks and William Bill Meeks.
Mr. Snyder was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of sixty-one years, are two sons, Thomas V. Snyder of Staunton and Randy M. Snyder of Churchville; a daughter, Karen F. Eaves and her husband Roy T. Eaves, Jr. of Staunton; four grandchildren, Travis Snyder, Natalie Fitzgerald, Jacob Eaves and Jared Eaves all of Staunton; two great grandsons; and Cristal Schuelke who was like a granddaughter, also survives.
A Graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Chaplain C. J. Aikens.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
