Therman Olney Rasnake, 85, widower of Alva Lee (Slate) Rasnake of 15 North Lynnhaven Dr. passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Rasnake was born on April 24, 1931 in Dickenson County, Virginia, a son of the late Calve and Mattie (Skeens) Rasnake.
Therman was a member of Hermitage Chapel and he proudly served his country in the United States Army and Air Force. Mr. Rasnake retired in 1988 from Smiths Transfer as a truck driver with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #29 and a former member of the Staunton Moose Lodge #1635. Therman enjoyed NASCAR, exercising at Golds Gym and meeting friends for breakfast at Hardees.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Rasnake was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Tim Richard Rasnake; two brothers, Virgil and Buster Rasnake; three sisters, Nellie Barton-Edwards, Hattie Viars and Loraine Hipes.
Mr. Rasnake was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving is a son, Thomas Glenn Rasnake and his wife Lisa of Harrisonburg; a grandson, Jeremy Rasnake and his wife Ashley; two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Rasnake and Emmersyn Rasnake.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2016 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Mary Pysell.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memory Gardens.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Teamsters Local #29.
