Ted (Theodore) Thompson Jordan died early morning on Monday, August 8, 2016 at UVA Hospital surrounded by his wife, three sons, and two step-children.

He was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 2, 1950 to Charles W. \u0026 Ruth E. Jordan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dana M. Flanders; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin R. \u0026 Laura A. Jordan, Grayson E. \u0026 Heather C. P. Jordan, and Timothy A. Jordan \u0026 Mary Kate Law; two step-children, Richard F. \u0026 Charlotte B. McPherson; and five grandchildren Violet M., Charles F. K., Thomas A. K., Andrew M. K., \u0026 Ruth R. Jordan. Ted was affectionately known by his grandchildren as Grumpa. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Charles W. \u0026 Linda Jordan; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bud (Dudley) D. \u0026 Martha M. Flanders; and the mother of his sons, Mary Rust.

Ted was a graduate of James Madison High School in Vienna, Va. and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Virginia in 1972.

Ted was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church serving as Jr. Warden, Sr. Warden, and a longtime participant in the music program. He was a carpenter and general contractor in the Shenandoah Valley for over 40 years. Ted took 17 mission trips to Honduras with his wife and members of Trinity to build schools and churches. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Churchville for 20 years and spent the last 10 years growing a vineyard with his family at Mount Airy, in Fort Defiance.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 9:30am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of his arrangements.
