Thelma Gertrude (Wood) Bryant, 94, widow of Mason Henry "Shorty" Bryant, of Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Earlysville, Virginia on April 16, 1929, a daughter of the late Rubin Lester Wood and Lizzie Gertrude (Wyant) Wood.

Thelma was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren and retired from GE/Genicom.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by three brothers, Maynard, Wallace and Boyd Wood and a sister, Lottie Yowell.

Surviving, are two sons, Stanley Bryant and his wife, Reba and Steve Bryant and his wife, Brenda Kay; two daughters, Marilyn (Bryant) Hodge and her husband, Kenny and Ronette (Bryant) Poole; two brothers, Hiram Wood and Curtis Wood; two sisters, Gracie Truslow and Betty Tomlin; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 in Augusta Memorial Park by Pastor E.B. Shoemaker.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Harris, Kent Hite, Rufus "Jr." Thompson, Terry Carpenter, Greg Tomlin, Jeff Tomlin, Elwood "Woody" Yowell, and Windom Henderson.
