Thelma Lorene Humphries's Obituary

Thelma Lorene (VanFossen) Humphries, 89, widow of Raymond M. Humphries, formerly of 500 C Street, Staunton passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Ritenour Rest Home.

Mrs. Humphries was born September 28, 1922 in Staunton, a daughter of the late Hallie Grant and Mary (Coffey) VanFossen.

Mrs. Humphries was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was a lover of animals and loved to cook. She had a deep devotion to her husband and although shy, she was loved by those who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by a brother, Warren VanFossen, two sisters, Helen Hickman and Ethel Huffer.

Mrs. Humphries was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include Lisa Shoemaker and family of Singers Glen, Virginia; Deborah and Faron MacLelland of Mechanicsville; Madeline and Philip Ramsey of Staunton; and longtime friend and helper, Bonnie Moyers of Staunton also survives.

A Graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2012 in Thornrose Cemetery by Pastor Dan Dharikuma.

At her request there will be no public viewing or visitation.

It is suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Staunton Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1000 North Coalter Street, Staunton, VA 24401 or the Potomac of the S.D.A., 606 Greenville Avenue, Staunton, VA 24401.
