IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teresa Mckinnon
Key
June 21, 1956 – January 15, 2026
Teresa (McKinnon) Key, 69, wife of Charles "Joe" Key, of Swoope, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at her residence.
Mrs. Key was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on June 21, 1956, a daughter of the late Lonnie G. McKinnon and Eula (Foster) McKinnon.
Teresa attended Bridge Christian Church, where her faith was an important part of her life. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Boykin Rescue Society, a role that reflected her deep love for animals and her generous heart. One of her greatest pleasures was taking evening sunset cruises with her husband and doggies, savoring the simple beauty of the moment and the company she loved most. She adored her beloved doggies, who were her constant companions and remained faithfully by her side every step of the way.
Mrs. Key found joy in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved shopping, antiquing, decorating, and interior design, always having an eye for beauty and a talent for making spaces feel warm and welcoming—much like she made people feel.
Teresa never met a stranger. Her strength, humor, and gracious spirit carried her through life, and she maintained those qualities with remarkable courage until the end.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 13 years, is a son, Ryan Stowers and his wife, Gwynn; step-children, Jennifer Key Jaeger and her husband, Mark and Charles J. Key, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth; a brother, Mark McKinnon and his wife, Nancy; a sister, Cathy Dowd and her husband, Joe; grandchildren, Nollie, Trey, Wyatt, and Hudson; step-grandchildren; Josie, Mali, Emi, and Theo; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of Teresa's life will be held at a later date at Bridge Christian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in Teresa's memory, to the Boykin Rescue Society at www.boykinspanielrescue.org or by emailing BrownBSR@gmail.com.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, is in charge of her arrangements.
