Teddie Gene Byars, 69, husband of Sandra Jean (Rider) Byars of 3019 Shutterleee Mill Road, joined his heavenly family on Wednesday, (December 23, 2009) after a long battle with cancer.
Teddie was born September 29, 1940 in North Fork, West Virginia, a son of the late Ozie Orval and Effie Jane (Sizemore) Byars.
Mr. Byars was member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and was employed with Precision Fabricators of Stuarts Draft as a tool and die maker before his retirement in July 2001. He loved hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife of fortysix years is a daughter and son-in-law, Christine G. Delahay and her husband Richard B. of Staunton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Timothy G. Byars and his wife Jennifer of Deep River, CT and Terry G. Byars of Waynesboro; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Roland Byars and his wife Connie of Herndon, WV and Bruce Byars and his wife Becky of Clintonville, WV; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Crone and her husband Leroy of Inwood, WV, Mildred Schackel and her husband Bob of Graham, WA, Geneva Byars of Hampton, VA Linda Travis and her husband Jim of Fayetteville, NC, Rita McNeely and her husband Walter of Elmore, AL; five grandchildren, Brittany and Meredith Richards, Taylor Byars, Benjamin Delahay and Addie Byars; two sisters-in-law, Sally Lewis of Vancouver, WA and Mary Hammack of West Palm Beach, FL; and his special lifelong friends, Robert and Norma Shelton of Staunton also survive.
A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 9, 2010 in St. Pauls United Methodist Church by Revs. G. Jeffrey Allen and J. Wade Munford.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
