Sylvia Irretis (Hodge) Rosenshine, 99, widow of Philip Rosenshine, formerly of Buckingham Place, Waynesboro, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Summit Square Retirement Community in Waynesboro.
Mrs. Rosenshine was born in Pax Branch, West Virginia on August 21, 1927, a daughter of the late Elbert Lee and Nina Elizabeth (Williams) Hodge.
Sylvia was an active and devout member of Groveton Baptist Church in Alexandria before moving to Waynesboro. She found great joy in quilting and sewing, as well as making her fruit cakes at Christmas, a tradition well loved by family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband of 51 years, Mrs. Rosenshine was preceded in death by two brothers, Emerson Hodge and Richard Hodge; and four sisters, Cloteile Belveal, Leona Hall, Orquida Hurd and Doris Miller.
Surviving, are her children, Lynda Rudolph-Belveal and her husband, Ronald of Roper, N.C., P. Michael Rosenshine and his wife, Ruth of Greenville, Brenda Tousignant and her husband, Peter of Brighton, MI. and Debra Roadcap and her husband, Alan of Stuarts Draft; a brother, Glenn Hodge and his wife, Sandra of Harrisonburg; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great- grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Chuck Balsamo.
Entombment will be private in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria VA.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Summit Square Retirement Community, 501 Oak Avenue, Waynesboro, VA. 22980 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105-1942.
