Steven Thomas Steve Snead, 45, of 221 West Liberty Street, passed away Monday, (November 23, 2009) in August Health in Fishersville after a brief and unexpected illness.
Steve was born September 29, 1964 in Norfolk, Virginia, a son
of the late Roger Dale Rocky Snead and Carol Elaine (Boward) Cheek.
Mr. Snead was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School class of 1984, he attended Blue Ridge Community College and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Steve was employed with Augusta Steel Corporation as a welder. He loved the ocean, sailing boats, music and attending live concerts of various groups and performers.
Surviving in addition to his mother of Staunton is a son, Jonathan Phillip Snead and a daughter, Lauren Christine Snead both of Staunton; paternal grandmother, Minerva Hott and her husband William of Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, Marc Edward Snead and his wife Angel of Staunton; two nieces, Jessica Elaine and Kylie Nicole Snead; girl friend, Stephanie Elaine Wright of Stuarts Draft; his former wife and the mother of his children, Cindy B. Snead of Staunton; very special and close friends, Sam and Ann Bailey of Staunton and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 in Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Temple D. Myers and Rev. Greg Mayo.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall.
