Starliss B. Herndon
STAUNTON:
Starliss (Brooks) Nolen Herndon, 75, wife of Gordon Herndon, of 436 Sterling Street, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Herndon was born March 12, 1938 in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late Stanley and Hattie Brooks.
Starliss was employed as a clerk at the 7-11 convenience store in Fishersville, and was known to have a strong work ethic. Mrs. Herndon was known as a cat lover.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Herndon was preceded in death by her first husband Alan J. Nolen, Sr.; a sister, Pauline Atkinson and a sister-in-law Charlene Doyle.
In addition to her husband of 20 years, survivors include a son, A. J. Nolen, Jr. of Staunton; three step sons; Rodney Herndon, Chris Herndon and Mark Herndon; two step daughters, Tracy Herndon and Karen Herndon; two grandchildren, Reneea (Nolen) Kite and Stacey (Nolen) Gore; six great grandchildren, Joshua Nolen, David Johnson, Kristin Kite, Carter Kite, Mattie Gore and Miley Gore; 16 step grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, and a special friend Candice Piner also survive.
Funeral services are private.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 6:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2013 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
