Sonya Lettie (Shaffer) Moores, 40, wife of Christian S. Moores of 18 Amelia Drive passed away Monday, May 2, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Moores was born September 8, 1970 in Virginia Beach, VA, a daughter of Sonya (Jackson) Shaffer Thompson of Staunton and the late Howard M. Shaffer, Sr.

Sonya was employed with Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation as a Dietary Services Manager for eleven years. She loved antiquing, gardening and her yard, as well as traveling. Sonya was dedicated to her job; she took time and nurtured those who resided in the nursing home. Sonya was very caring and close to her immediate family.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are three daughters and a son-in-law, Danielle N. Wood and her husband Robert of Waynesboro, Jessica Shea Allen and Kayla Christine Allen both of Mt. Solon; two step-sons, Scott Thomas Moores of Staunton and Ian Michael Moores of Waynesboro; a brother, Howard M. Bo Shaffer, Jr. of Charlottesville; a sister, Katherine S. Shaffer of Staunton; father and mother-in-law, Russell Ray and Helen Dorothy Moores of Augusta, GA; a number of brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews also survive.

A Memorial service will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2011 in Coffman Funeral Home Chapel by Father Rolo Castillo.

The family will receive friends following the service.

A private graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, May 7, 2011.
