Sidney Albert Sid Bazzrea, Jr., 76, husband of Jean (Saufley) Bazzrea of 1323 Blandford Street passed away Wednesday, (December 30, 2009) at his residence.
Mr. Bazzrea was born August 8, 1933 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Sidney Albert Bazzrea, Sr. and Mary Frances (Kelly) Bazzrea.
Sidney was retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country for over twenty-three years. He was a member of St. Pauls United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion Post# 126 in Forestville, MD. Mr. Bazzrea enjoyed hunting, playing his guitar and writing songs. He had a love for country music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry F. Bazzrea.
Surviving in addition to his wife to whom he married on June 11, 1988 are a son and daughter-in-law, Sidney Ray Bazzrea and his wife Cindy of Wilson, OK ; four daughters and sons-in-law, Susan B. Hales and her husband Michael, Farah Bazzrea all of Nashville, TN, Loretta B. Siron and her husband Shane of Waynesboro and Lori Skaggs of Charlestown, WVA; two step-daughters, Teresa M. Terri Henderson and Patricia A. Patti Butler both of Staunton; two sisters, Jayne Boone of Las Vegas, NV and Faith Hayes of Sweeton, MA; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010 in St. Pauls United Methodist Church by Rev. G. Jeffrey Allen and Rev. J. Wade Munford.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens with Military Rites.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, January 1, 2010 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
Active pallbearers will be Jim Taylor, Bill Campbell, Alex Caldwell, Aubrey Jackson, Wilbur Fee Detamore and Roger Eagle.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Ms. Deborah Brown and the wonderful staff at the Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their care given to Mr. Bazzrea during his time of illness.
