Shirley Jean (Smith) Wheeler, 62, wife of Dennis Eugene Wheeler, Sr., of 1810 Little Calf Pasture Highway, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014 in the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Mrs. Wheeler was born in Harrisonburg on April 21, 1951, a daughter of the late Robert Fulton and Vivian Arvesta (Wampler) Smith.
Shirley was employed with Hershey Chocolate of Virginia as a machine operator. She enjoyed her job and the friendship of her co-workers, she had a love for the outdoors and liked to video the wildlife around her home.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by a son, Tim Thurston and a step-son, Dennis E. Wheeler, Jr.
Surviving in addition to her husband of ten years is a daughter, Tina L. Tinsley and husband Phillip of Staunton; a step-daughter, Amy Wheeler of Stuarts Draft; a step-son, Michael Wheeler of Verona; a daughter-in-law, Andrea Thurston of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Cole Michael Tinsley, Sara Ann Tinsley, Jordon Wheeler and Kelsie Wheeler and many special friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory.
A Memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 26, 2014 in the Victory Worship Center by Pastor Ray Eppard.
