Shirley Anne (Sipe) Humphries, 83, wife of John B. Humphries, Jr. of 139 Cold Springs Road, Stuarts Draft went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Mrs. Humphries was born in Grottoes, Virginia on September 22, 1938 a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Daisy Pearl (Roadcap) Sipe.

She was an active member of Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed her flower gardens, photography and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Groah; a brother, Leonard Sipe; and two sisters, Kathy Sipe and Janet Wampler.

Surviving in addition to her husband to whom she was married for 65 years, is a daughter, Deborah Leigh Groah and husband Tim of Fairfield; a son, John B. Humphries, III and wife Beth of Manahawkin, New Jersey; three brothers, Bobby Sipe of Spring Lake, North Carolina, William Sipe of Mt. Sidney and Earl Sipe of Waynesboro; two sisters, Wanda Sutton of New Hope and Donna Hogge of Grottoes; three granddaughters, Lindsay G. Barker and husband Jason, Amanda Humphries and Brooke Samaritano; two great-granddaughters, Olivia Wade Barker and Adeline Frances Barker and a number of nieces and nephews survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in Valley Baptist Church or the residence at other times.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Valley Baptist Church by Pastor Frank Hall.

Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Groah, Jason Barker, Gerry Sutton, Doug Hogge, Ted Babinger and Rev. Steve Lalk.
